a sourdough haiku
Oh Wow, Sourdough
You are so funky and fresh

I’m not a scientist and would never claim to be. I’m also not a baker and in fact have claimed that I “am NOT a baker”. I leave that skillset to my sisters (who are unlike me in this way) and people who are more exacting.
What I like about cooking is why baking and I often don’t get along- I’ll add an extra sprinkle of salt here, or an extra egg yolk if I want something to be creamier/richer. If you add an extra egg yolk when you’re baking you could go from a cookie to a creme brulee. Or maybe not but you get the point! I am so not a precise exacting person- I like to get creative and add a little flair when it calls to me.
That said, sourdough is a different character. She’s funky, she has a mind of her own, she’s active, she always turns out slightly differently. baking sourdough is oddly, forgiving? which is shocking to me because a few months ago i couldn’t even conceive of the idea that making bread was something you could just DO, don’t know what that’s such a foreign concept to me.
Anyways, I’m here to say you CAN make sourdough even if you think you’re not a baker and it’s not as hard as everyone thinks! and Tik Tok is a great resource for learning things like this even if it is rotting my brain.
This was nonsense xo
